From the Latin sequens, “following.”
⊢Read it as logic
The basic statement of the sequent calculus, introduced by Gerhard Gentzen in 1934 to study the structure of proof itself.
ΓAntecedent. What is given: statements taken together, all assumed to hold.
⊢Turnstile. “Yields”: the right side follows from the left by valid steps.
ΔSuccedent. What follows: statements, at least one of which must hold whenever everything in Γ does.

⊢Read it as a decision
We use the same form for decisions: be exact about the starting point, make the reasoning visible, and commit to where it can actually lead.
ΓScope. Here. What is true about the business now: people, capital, evidence, constraints. Not what we wish were true.
⊢Focus. The step. The reasoning that connects here to there, stated plainly enough to be tested and challenged.
ΔCommit. There. Outcomes, plural. A sound decision names the ends the premises can support, and commits to reaching at least one.
